NotaKita, a record of informal loans between neighbours that no one can change alone
A record of informal loans (kasbon) between neighbours. All members hold the same records, and an entry that has been agreed cannot be changed by one side alone.
What you can do
- Record debts in rupiah or in goods, such as rice or fertiliser.
- Cancel out circular debts automatically. For example, A owes B, B owes C, and C owes A the same amount. All three debts can be cleared without any money changing hands.
- Show all records to all members, so no one holds information alone.
How to start
- Open notakita.hanzcodes.my.id in your phone's browser, then enter your name.
- Record a new loan together with the person who owes the money.
- Synchronise records with other members' phones by QR code or the same Wi-Fi. This step does not need internet.
Your data
The app does not use a server. Records are stored on the members' phones, and each entry carries a digital mark from the phone that created it.
Technical details
Local-first PWA with no server. Entries are signed on the device (secp256k1) and exchanged via QR code or the local network (WebRTC). Data is stored with a CRDT (Yjs) in IndexedDB, so entries made at the same time do not overwrite each other.
Free, with custom versions on request
NotaKita is free to use. Government agencies or companies that want a custom version on their own server can contact us. If you find the app useful, you can help cover its server costs.
